1,2,3-Benzotriazole (BTA) is a white to tan crystalline solid (C6H5N3) known for its excellent corrosion inhibition on copper, brass, and silver, forming protective films; it's used in coolants, hydraulic fluids, and metal cleaners, and also acts as a UV stabilizer, photographic agent, and building block in organic synthesis, valued for its aromatic heterocyclic structure and diverse industrial applications despite mild irritant properties.
