Description

2-Bromohexanoic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H11BrO2. It is a carboxylic acid with a bromine atom attached to the second carbon atom. It is also known as α-bromo-n-caproic acid or α-bromocaproic acid. The compound is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a boiling point of 136-138 °C at 18 mmHg. It is soluble in alcohol, chloroform, and diethyl ether but practically insoluble in water.
