Description and applications
Ethylene thiourea (ETU) is a white, crystalline organosulfur compound (C3H6N2Scap C sub 3 cap H sub 6 cap N sub 2 cap S?3?6?2?) used primarily as a curing accelerator for neoprene and other chlorinated elastomers, enhancing their heat and chemical resistance. It also acts as an intermediate in producing fungicides, dyes, and pharmaceuticals. It is considered a potential carcinogen, antithyroid agent, and developmental toxicant.
