Description and applications
Sodium phenylbutyrate is used together with a proper diet to help treat urea cycle disorders, including carbamylphosphate synthetase deficiency (CPS), ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency (OTC), or argininosuccinate synthetase (AS). Ammonia is formed from the breakdown of protein in the body.
