Description and applications
Dibutyltin oxide (DBTO) is a white, amorphous organotin compound that acts as a Lewis acid catalyst in organic synthesis, particularly for esterification and carbon-carbon bond formation. It is a fine powder, typically colorless to pale yellow, with a strong odor, and is very poorly soluble in water and most organic solvents. DBTO is also a reagent in some reactions
